Experiment 1 Submission

ARCH1101 Experiment 1 Submission

25th March 2018

3 PROJECT IMAGES WITH AN ADJECTIVE, VERB AND NOUN DESCRIBING EACH
Do the three words work together to suggest a distinctive and significant approach to engaging with each clients work?

18 SKETCH SECTIONS
Do the 18 sketch sections communicate a distinctive and significant approach the student has taken with respect to the clients work and their relationship to the datum?

36 CUSTOM TEXTURES
Do the 36 custom textures demonstrate enquiry and experimentation with respect to ideas of measurement?

7 IMAGES SHOWING 2 DRAFT SKETCHUP MODELS AND 1 DEVELOPED  MODEL
Does the stair demonstrate a distinctive and significant approach to bringing the completed work into the showroom?

2 Images from Week 1 Task (First Draft Sketchup Model)

2 Images from Week 3 Task (Developed Sketchup Model with designers work and three textures as well as the YouTube Video)

3 ANIMATIONS FROM SKETCHUP
Do animations demonstrate that the student has thought about the relative size of each element, what their proportions are, their orientation, how texture and color map over their surfaces and how all of the above work together to establish the balance or otherwise of their scheme?

Images of Model

Here are some more images of my model and the staircases:

The rope bridge: Based on the concept of "murder", it is meant to provoke fear and uncertainty to the customers.
Front elevation: Based on the concept of "machine". I see the definition of this word to be "many parts
working together to create one whole". This can be seen through the continuity of the curves of each section forming
one whole "wave"

Longitudinal Section - Provides a better understanding of the flow of space
throughout the model.

Moreover, the rope bridge has used the "brittle" texture to further the notion of "murder" and "fear"

This is the lookout for CJ Hendry to gain inspiration from the landscape. It rests on the top
of the hill to provide the best view for her.

A wonderful view for CJ Hendry
This is the "scrap pit" where all of Revival Cycle's dud motorbikes end up. Based on the word "murder",
it is a really bad ending for something that has had a lot of thought put into.

Again, here is the sectional sketch that this design is based on.

Below are my SketchUp models of the stairs and roofs

*The sharks, crocodiles, people, and motorbikes were all obtained from the 3D Warehouse

Week 3 Task

Here are some of my textures integrated with my Sketchup project:

Themes: Murder

This is a video tutorial on how to bend and laminate wood, I chose this video as if someone were to create my stairs in real life they would probably use this technique.

My 36 Material Textures

36 Material Textures

Below are my 36 material textures that I created for Experiment 1. When creating the textures, I made sure that they were all tileable so as to not cause identifiable lines/seams between each 'tile'.
