Week 0

Before the first class ...

 1. Piece of work

This is a model house I made for a year 6 project where we had to design a house that would fit on our land. Seeing all the different and amazing houses that were built is what really inspired me to choose architecture and continue designing dream homes. (you can see it's all a bit messed up now cause my little sister drew all over it and put tape everywhere)

2. An image of a great piece of architecture

This is a house built by professional snowboarder Mike Basich. I really like the house as it is intended to be a place away from the difficulties of life, a place where you have no worries and a place where you can rest in piece. It is situated at the top of a 40 acre snow field where he snowboards down each day and takes a snow mobile up. Every piece of cement is hand mixed and was built all by himself. The design is built of the golden ratio. Basich says that "building under that law of nature is supposed to make the space feel more fit to the body". There is also a star that casts a shadow onto the floor and at 3:02 on 3/2 (which is his birthday), the star fits inside a pentagon on the ground, making the building very personal.

3. An original photograph of something beautiful

This is an image of the milky way I took while camping. It was really nice to see all these stars, even with the naked eye, as you would not see anything like this in Sydney as there would be too much light pollution in the air.
